Bitter Elegance

Bitter Elegance is my first professional work. It explores a collective of eight damned and distressed women who feast together at their banquet. While the audience may be invited to watch, this collective functions separately to the performance, they feast for their own entertainment not for that of the audience.

This interdisciplinary dance theatre works expands the space as the piece develops with moving tables, mess and the use the upper third of the stage. It intends to flip the narrative of innocent and pure women by flipping the connotations created through colour; setting the banquet in an all white space and instead bringing the dancers into their own colour.
